Sarah Quinlin

Congratulations to Oakey’s Hospice Caregivers Award recipient for July 2018, Sarah Quinlin of Good Samaritan Hospice.

Following are three letters sent to us nominating Sarah for this award:

Nomination 1

"My Mom came home on hospice in April after making the decision to stop treatment. We were so blessed to have Sarah as her caregiver not only to help with Mom, but us also. I can’t say enough about Sarah. She was so good with my Dad in helping him cope and understand everything that was going on with Mom. She treated Mom so well, always being gentle with her and so kind. I really do not know how we would have made it through everything without her. Even on the day that Mom passed away, she bathed her and talked to her and was so sweet. Having her there made the transition with the funeral home so much easier. We got to know her and I sure miss talking to her now. If we ever need care for my Dad, I would hope it would be her. She is so deserving of this (award).”

Nomination 2

“Sarah helped take care of my Father in 2016. She is so caring and compassionate, with both the patient and the family. She will advocate for her patients. Sarah is extremely competent and good at what she does. If anyone deserves to be recognized for the hard job that they do on a daily basis, it is Sarah. Sarah had surgery while taking care of Mom, and came back to work probably sooner than she should have just to make sure her patients were ok. I would love to see her get this award.”

Nomination 3

“I would like to nominate a nurse with Good Samaritan Hospice for the Oakey’s caregiver award. Sarah Quinlin has a heart the size of this state, and a wonderful compassionate, caring and spirited personality to go with it. Every single patient she has taken care of falls in love with her, and every one of the caregivers she has educated and supported as they walked along with the patients in our care, hold her equally as dear, as she always got the extra mile. The difference is that Sarah does so without boasting or bragging…she just does it. She can always keep the mission in front of her and does so without resistance, and always with a smile. Sarah often will spend extra time with her patients, often going above and beyond her work schedule to make sure their needs are met. Sarah has recently had a higher than normal case load when our census surged to record breaking numbers. Sarah never made her patients feel as though they were not her number one priority when she was with them. Her load was heavy indeed, yet she did not let that stop her from doing everything it takes to keep our patients comfortable and supported. She is a true Good Samaritan…”

Congratulations Sarah and thank you for all you do for our community!
