Grady Paul Cox, 84, of Troutville and formerly of Lumberton, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2013 at his home. He worked for Butterfield’s Harley Davidson for over 30 years and then opened his own business, Cox American Motorcycle Repair Shop, in Troutville. Grady was preceded in death by his parents, Rossie and Vera Anderson Cox; two sisters, Grace Sides and Ruth Rosier; one brother, Lacy Cox. He is survived by loving wife of 33 years, Linda Taylor Cox; one daughter, Patricia Gordon and husband, Bill; two sons, Paul Cox and wife, Kathy, Daniel Cox and wife, Rebecca; two sisters, Katie Shepherd, Alma Jewell Durden; brothers, Henry Cox and wife, Mary, Rossie (Buddy) Cox, Jr. and wife, Velma, James Cox and wife, Judy; sister-in-law, Naomi Miller and husband, Perry; two brothers-in-law, Hershel Taylor and wife, Elizabeth, Howard Taylor and wife, Beatrice; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and special niece, Deborah Yates.
The family wishes to thank Jennifer Mundy (the ALS Coordinator), Gentle Shepherd Hospice, our friends and neighbors, and a special thanks to Billy Boothe, David Thomas and Pete Escamilla
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at Oakey’s East Chapel where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 4, 2013 with Pastor Duane Musick officiating. Entombment will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 6, 2013 in the Ketron Memorial Gardens, Lebanon, VA with the family receiving friends from 1 to 2PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the ALS Association DC/MD/VA Chapter, 7507 Standish Place, Rockville, MD 20855, or a charity of your choice.
