Rosa Lillian Adams Smith, 92, of Woodhaven Nursing Home and Roanoke, died Sunday, April 15, 2012.

Rosa was predeceased by her husband Albert Lee Smith, parents Hardy D. Adams, Cora Emma Walters Adams and brothers Allen, Willie Douglas, James (Dickie) and John (Bobby) Adams.

She was retired from the Roanoke City Police Department where she was the second female officer hired.

Survivors include nephews Robert Adams of Vinton,
James Adams of Phoenix, Ariz.; nieces Rose Marie Adams of Phoenix, Ariz., and Karen Giroux of Laveen, Ariz; sister-in-law Patricia Adams of Phoenix, Ariz. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at Sherwood Memorial Park, with the Rev. David Vaughan officiating. The family would like to thank the Woodhaven staff for its concern and loving care the past two years.
