Herbert L. Gilchrist, 59, of Roanoke, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2012. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Evelyn Gilchrist; brothers, James and Roy Gilchrist. He is survived by a sister, Deborah Williams; brothers, Lawrence Gilchrist, John Gilchrist and Julius Gilchrist.
A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. on Monday, March 12, 2012 at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia with the Rev. Mickey Derrow officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Oakey’s North Chapel.
