Biography

Josie Faye Fluty of Roanoke, Virginia passed away on February 9th, 2012 at the age of 88. Mrs. Fluty passed away peacefully at home due to natural causes and was surrounded by family in the end before going home to Jesus Christ.
Faye was born on May 21, 1923 in Fee's Branch, Virginia to Aurther Green Owen and Nancy Drusilla Osborne. One of nine children, Faye attended Lancing High School in North Carolina and was an alumni of Marion Junior College in Marion, Virginia.
Faye met railroader Charles W. Fluty while working at Security Central National Bank in Portsmouth, Ohio. They were married in 1948 in McDermott, Ohio where they spent nineteen years with family and friends. Life with Charles eventually took her to Williamson, West Virginia, Roanoke, Virginia, Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and Decatur, Illinois.
After retiring, Faye and Charles moved back to Roanoke, Virginia to be close to her son, Charles O. Fluty, daughter-in-law, Kumryun, and grandchildren, Aaron and Suzanne. Faye, a member of the Eastern Star, enjoyed retirement spending time with family and embraced life as a "snow bird," traveling to Florida with her husband every winter, making crafts and meeting baseball players at Yankees spring training games.
Faye is survived by her husband, Charles Wilson Fluty, son Charles Owen Fluty, and daughter-in-law Kumryun Fluty, and grandchildren. Faye is also survived by her sister, Ruth Owen Cornett of Elk Creek, Virginia, and a bounty of nieces and nephews.
Faye will be joining her parents and siblings: Hazel Osborne, Alma White, Blanch Herbert, Raymond Owen, Margaret Jones, Sybil Kilby, Cody Owen, and beloved daughter, Sarah Francis Fluty, in Heaven.
Family would like to give special thanks to Mona, Gentle Shepherd, and many prayer partners for being there in Faye's time of need. Visitation is to be held at the Oakey's South Chapel on Sunday, February 12th from 2 pm to 5 pm. On Monday, February 13th there will be a Memorial service at Oakey's South Chapel at 2 pm, followed by a Committal at Blue Ridge Memorial Garden in Roanoke, Virginia.
