Biography
Blanche Buchanan Emswiler, 97, of Roanoke died Friday January 20, 2012. She was born in Winston Salem, NC to the late Robert James and Ethel Bailey Buchanan. Blanche was the widow of Eldridge E. Emswiler who preceded her in death in February 1978; and sister, Ellen B. Duvall. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and was associated with Radio Communications Co. Inc in Roanoke for more than 50 years. Survivors include her daughter, Helen Edmunds and husband Donald, Roanoke; son, Emmette Emswiler and wife Libby; Raleigh, NC. Blanche, better known as “Ma” was blessed by grandchildren Stephanie Weddle and husband Michael, Susan Heck and husband Corey, Jennifer Fowler and husband Kevin, David Emswiler and wife Nicole; great grandsons, Owen and Asher Heck, John Emswiler; great granddaughters, Sophie and Jocelyn Weddle, Madison and Harper Fowler. Memorial services will be held 12 noon Monday January 23, 2012 at Covenant Presbyterian Church with Revs. Robert and Dusty Fiedler officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the reception hall. Arrangements by Oakey’s South Chapel.Memorial Service
