Biography

Opal Bumgarner Finley, 81, of Roanoke, went home to be with her Lord and Savior while surrounded by all of her family on Thursday, January 12, 2012. Opal B. was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lula Bumgarner and her husband, Orville F. Finley. She was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church. Surviving are her children, George (Jack) Finley and wife, Brenda, David Finley, Sally Nunley and husband, G.K., Randy Finley, Susan Lively and husband, Randy; grandchildren, Adam Strickler, Luke Strickler, Kelly Gibson, Brian Finley and wife, Kim, Melissa (Lynn) Crocker and husband, John, IV, Jennifer Apple and husband, David, Jessica Lively and Travis Lively; great-grandchildren, Seirra, Gabe, Cassidy, Cole, Mason, Bailey, Kayla, John V, Milan and David; brother and sister-in-law, Clifford and Edna Baumgardner; sister-in-law, Mae Bumgarner Stringer; and a host of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 16, 2012 at Oakey’s North Chapel with Rev. Carl Basham officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Sunday at Oakey’s North Chapel, www.oakeys.com.
