Alline S. Echols, 103, of Coopers Cove, passed from this life at her home on December 9, 2011. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sarah H. and William A. Stores, her ex-husband, Everett E. Echols and her son, Charles Allison Echols.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara A. Houser, Lynne and Dave Bartee, Jill and Ken Dowdy; nine grandchildren, Becky Ann Martin, Larry and Kenneth Houser, Tim and Brian Echols, Carla May, Jeff and Steve Chamberlain and Alline Jewsbury; and numerous great and great, great grandchildren.
Alline was born in Portsmouth, VA and resided in Coopers Cove for 80 plus years. Until she became home bound, she was extremely active in Coopers Cove Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, played the piano and directed church plays.
Donations may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice or Coopers Cove Baptist Church Steeple Fund.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11am, Monday, December 12, 2011 at Coopers Cove Baptist Church with the Rev. Darrell Naff and the Rev. Marvin E. Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2pm to 4pm on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel, 982-2221, www.oakeys.com.
