Biography

Catherine Mary Fanti, 83 of Roanoke passed away Monday October 24, 2011. She was born in Hercegfalva, Hungary to the late Elizabeth and Ignatius Gyorfi, and was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Ann Lusinski. Catherine was married on February 8, 1947, and became a naturalized citizen on May 13, 1958. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Anthony E. Fanti, her children, Claudeen (Lynwood) Shelton, Kathleen Plakosh, Mark (Tanya) Fanti, Mary Willard, and Marcia (Donald) Desseyn, fourteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren. The Mass of the Resurrection will be at Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church at 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 28, 2011. The Rev. Msgr. Joseph Lehman will officiate. Interment will follow in the mausoleum of St. Andrew’s Diocesan Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Oakey’s South Chapel on Brambleton Ave. from 6-8 P.M. on Thursday October 27, 2011. Arrangements by Oakey’s South Chapel.
